Benton Collins is a New York based photographer with years of
experience in the commercial world, creating images for clients
including Coke and Pepsi, Sony, Miller Brewing, Toshiba,
Colgate/Palmolive and Stuart Weitzman. Benton has worked with many top
agencies including McCann-Erickson, BBDO, Hill Holiday, Bates, and
Hakuhodo.
Deft
detail and precision lighting are the hallmarks of a Benton Collins
shoot; skills that have found their best expression both in the world
of liquids and hard goods. He shoots both digitally or on film.
His innovative lighting design and creative film application have
helped highlight the essence of splashing, pouring, and beverage
portrait, and serve to capture the beauty of many products. Along with
talent, Benton brings a signature selection of tricks and trade secrets
to his photos. Applied to any liquid product, or used to highlight a
"dry" shoot, the result is always impressive.
Benton loves taking pictures: he picked up his dad's Nikon at age 16,
and was hooked. Although well educated in art and communications, he
has never received formal training in photography. Benton prefers
learning through his own process and through the experiments that some
shoots demand. "Get the image in your head first; the rest is just a
formality," he likes to say.
Benton lives in NYC with his wife Lauren and two sons Griffin and Reeve.
